Husband Remains Person of Interest Following Wife’s Fatal Shooting

A man remains a person of interest in the fatal shooting of his wife in Carson last week. 68-year-old Benjamin Ramirez was arrested on Saturday for the murder, but released due to lack of probable cause.

Ramirez’ wife, Fely Ramirez, was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining after sustaining at least one gunshot wound in her upper body. The shooting was first reported last Friday at approximately 3:40 p.m. in the 900 block of East Joel Street in Carson at the couple’s home.

Investigators initially suspected Mr. Ramirez after he disappeared following his wife’s death. Authorities enlisted the public’s help in finding him after he was last seen driving away from his home in his 2010 silver Honda Accord around the time of the shooting. He was arrested and booked at the sheriff’s station in Carson on Saturday night, according to Los Angeles County booking records; but released from county jail on Monday morning.

The police have asked anyone with information about Fely Ramirez to contact the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau; or, anonymous tips can be submitted to Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers.
