Torrance Walmart Employee Files Revenge Porn Suit

A Walmart employee who worked at the retail corporation's Torrance location has sued her employer based on allegations that a co-worker distributed sexually explicit photos of her to other store employees. The plaintiff is only identified as Jane Doe in her suit; additional named defendants include Flora Garcia Solares and Lamar Davenport.

According to the suit, Doe was hired in 2009 and worked at the Crenshaw District Walmart and subsequently transferred to the Torrance store after Crenshaw's closing in 2016. Doe was in a romantic relationship until March 2017 with Lamar Davenport. Davenport reportedly had also once been in a relationship with Solares.

Doe alleges Davenport gave the sexually explicit photos to Solares the same month Doe broke up with him. Solares then sent copies of the photos along with harassing text messages to Doe, and circulated the photos to other co-workers during work hours and made commented on Doe's alleged sexual conduct.

Doe claims to have complained about Solares to the company via Walmart's hotline, but Walmart failed to take action for several months. Eventually, Doe was ordered to attend a meeting with the store manager, where she learned Solares had shown the photos to others in the workplace.

In return, the store manager alleged Doe was recorded on video making obscene hand gestures toward Solares. Doe, who denies making any such gesture, was not permitted to see the video and was told doing so would violate company policy.

Doe's lawsuit includes allegations of revenge porn, harassment/hostile work environment, gender discrimination, retaliation, defamation, and intrusion. Doe is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. Walmart has yet to respond to the allegations.
