United Airlines Reaches Settlement Agreement

Dr. David Dao, who rose to fame earlier this month after being dragged off a United Airlines flight by airport police, has reached a settlement agreement with the airline. The incident, which went viral after passenger-recorded footage was leaked online, has generated virulent consumer criticism and sparked policy changes at United.

Whittier Law School to Close

Whittier College announced earlier this week that their affiliated law school would not be accepting a new class in 2017 in preparation for the school's eventual closing. No new applicants will be accepted and the school will close after its current students graduate.

El Segundo Hopes to Change Name of Sepulveda

The city of El Segundo has voted to change the name of Sepulveda Boulevard to Pacific Coast Highway, and is hoping Manhattan Beach follows suit. The City Council initiated the vote at Tuesday's meeting, but the name change must be formally proposed to and approved by Caltrans.

Aaron Hernandez Found Dead in Prison Cell

Former NFL player Aaron Hernandez was found dead in his prison cell on Wednesday in what authorities have deemed a suicide. Hernandez hanged himself using his bedsheet attached to the cell window, after attempting to jam his door shut with various items. While serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a different crime, Hernandez was acquitted on Friday of a double murder case from 2012.
