Protest Erupts in Anaheim After Off-Duty Police Officer Fires Gun at Teens

300 protestors took to the streets of Anaheim earlier this week after an altercation between an off-duty police officer and local teenagers ended in gunfire. According to police, about 24 individuals were arrested on misdemeanor charges of failing to disperse, resisting arrest and battery on a peace officer.

Are Criminal Justice Reforms to Blame for Whittier Police Officer's Death?

Following the death of a 27-year veteran Whittier police officer, some are questioning whether recent criminal justice reforms are responsible. Earlier this week, Officer Keith Boyer was fatally shot by Michael Christopher Mejia, a career criminal with a long criminal record. Mejia had been released on parole just over a week earlier.

Torrance Police Chief Suspended

Torrance Police Chief Mark Matsuda has been suspended from his job until February 13, according to a Daily Breeze report. The suspension resulted from allegations that Chief Matsuda made sexual and racist comments in a personnel complaint filed in October.

Hundreds Arrested in Human Trafficking Sting Operation

474 people were arrested and 28 children rescued earlier this week in California as part of a multiday sting operation focused on combating human trafficking. Over 30 law enforcement agencies across the state combined forces over a three-day period to participate in the third annual "Operation Reclaim and Rebuild" operation.
